وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ ءَامِنُواْ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلنَّاسُ قَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ كَمَآ ءَامَنَ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُۗ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمۡ هُمُ ٱلسُّفَهَآءُ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَعۡلَمُونَ

Verse meaning

This is the verse translation, not a definition of the individual word.

When it is said to them, “Believe as the people have believed,” they say, “Shall we believe as the fools[1] have believed?” Indeed, it is they who are the fools, but they do not know.
